In Malaysia, the honorable Datuk title is conferred on the basis of outstanding performance and service to the citizens and government of Malaysia. Datuk also means ‘grandfather’ in the Bahasa Malaysia language.
I had the chance to meet one of these Datuks last Saturday morning.
[SAMS], together with the young entreprenuer’s club and choir club of Swinburne Sarawak will be organizing a spring fashion cum charity show early next year, and Datuk Yong Khoon Seng is our specially invited guest. The fashion show will encompass teen and young adult fashion, and it’ll involve major boutiques in and around Kuching. The show comes under the auspices of SABERKAS, and we will be donating towards the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society.
Meeting Datuk Yong took up an slight effort of waking up at 7am in the morning, since I only slept at 2 hours beforehand. A quick cup of kopi-c courtesy of Mr. Phang, cured this sleepy head here.

We presented the official invitation to Datuk Yong. Being a very busy politician, we did not bother him with too many details. Information and the site for the fashion show will be up in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned.
Edit: Reminds me of Paradise Kiss.

@Lance: My church youth ever help in their annual sales, or was that the thalassemia society. But atm it seems that we’ll be donating to them, unless got any other changes. in fact, if I’m not mistaken, we’ve not contacted them officially about this yet.
