Back to topic. Thanks a million to all gunpla, figures and the one and only S.I.C. contributor for contributing your precious merchandise and collectibles to help us out in boosting up the numbers. I’ll slowly pass around the collector highlight as I post the next few posts.

And to Swatwolf, thanks very much for the figmas, PS3, Wii and the much more stuff from all these times. Here’s a tribute and an all the best wish to Swatwolf in his going off to KL later today!

By the way, the reinforcements have arrived!

So do come visit us at our booth to take a look at more new gunpla and figures, as well as activities such as the Gundam modelling session and artist drawing session. Not forgetting the last minute put together cosplay as well.

Make dangos of course.

So it seems like we keep on eating Japanese food. Hopefully we have been able to achieve the original taste of the things we’re making.

That looks more like a tri-color burger rather than a dango. XD

Now this one is a fine example of why Nagisa likes dangos so much.

Am I doing the right thing for SAMS? Seems like I’m fattening members instead of getting them to do something…

Before I continue, here’s a webpage on how to have your own nagashi soumen: http://toyohara.com/inaka/somen-e.htm. The effort of cutting the bamboo was… well, a LOT. Thanks to everyone who took time to help and prepare!

Edit: Due to requests, I’ll put up the steps to have your own nagashi soumen party.

Step 1: Search and destroy cut bamboo operation. Cutting bamboo isn’t easy. Especially those with diameters > 1.5 inches. I recommend you get one with a diameter of at least 2 inches (which means it’s gonna be as tall as a 3 story building – get ready for that). Get ready a saw and a matchete. Start off with the hatchet and use the saw when you seem to make no progress with the hatchet. Note:

Step 2 involves cleaning, cutting and properly preparing the bamboo. To split the bamboo, just use your machete to split starting from one end to the other. Get ready some chisels to chisel away the inner bamboo walls.

Now to setup, you can either cut the bamboo (ease of transportation) or have it whole (easy setup). We did the former. For the flow of water, you can use either a pump, a simple hose mechanism, or you could do what we did… use water dispensers…

Step 3: Involves the preparation of the soumen and the sauce. You can use the link here. The soumen needs about a 3 minute cook in boiling water, and then a quick wash in cold running water.

We used instant sauce, much easier. ^^ The sauce tastes of mediocre aroma of sweet and salty soy + fish.

Step 4: Enjoy!

Planning was hectic, and most of the SAMS members were too busy to attend meetings. Thanks to swing for the designs! But by God’s grace, we suddenly had a number of SAMS members turning up to help prepare and decorate the venue. Ryu, Kwang Young, Aaron, Lance, serene, Kimberly, videl, Anna, Mika, Ajay, Bunnie, Adrian, Doris, ngumbang as well as photographers nerdrazor and rollakid made themselves available for the day before and the day itself to help make the event a grand one. Thanks SAMS members! Below is the product of your efforts!

Our models are students of Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus. They are not professionals, and only had sufficient training hours before the event. Nevertheless, they were impressive.

The event MCs were Kok Chung and Chai Tyng, students of Swinburne.

Below is the dude I had been working with for the past 2 months. Mr. Robert Chung was the head organizing chairperson for the event. Enjoyed working with him ^^

Our specially invited guest, TB Datuk Yong Khoon Seng, giving his maiden speech. Mentioned some interesting things, but I have already forgotten about them.

Without anymore speeches, lets start with the fashion showcases! Pictures straight on till the end! If you’re wondering where the heck am I, I was behind the curtains most of the time coordinating our backstage SAMS members. During our interludes between the showcases, we had song performances by local talent Hua Beng and Ms. Fara, as well as dance performances by Tyng Studios and local primary school SJK Chung Hua N0. 6. Mr. Kenny Sia also made an appearance as an invited guest and gave a speech

So far, the clothes that went through the catwalk looks very 70ish. Especially with the guys. Next up, the bridal showcase. Now, this part really blew my expectations away, wherbey  France Taipei Bridal Palace and Genesis Bridal Studio put up an impressive outfit display.

That’s about the whole event. Really enjoyed working in both scenes.
